Next generation of circus in Palestine
Focus: Community building and resilience
Who: 140 direct participants, 1,700 indirect
Where: West Bank, Palestine
When: October 2024 — ongoing
Partner: The Palestinian Circus School
Through circus arts, Palestinian children and youth discover new ways to build confidence, express creativity, and strengthen community bonds. Working alongside the Palestinian Circus School, we support programs that use circus training to develop resilience, teamwork, and joy across Palestinian communities.
Circus arts require trust, collaboration, and courage – exactly the qualities that help young people navigate challenges and build resilience. When a child learns to balance on a tightrope or work together in a group acrobatic routine, they’re not just developing physical skills, they’re learning to trust themselves and others, overcome fear, and support their community.
For Palestinian youth, circus provides a unique space where physical achievement meets emotional growth, where individual expression strengthens collective bonds, and where joy becomes an act of resistance.
What we do together
Working with the Palestinian Circus School’s experienced team, we support intensive training programs that help young people develop both circus skills and life skills. We also facilitate circus programs for 120 children aged 8-14 across eight locations, from refugee camps to urban centers, where participants build confidence through creative expression.
The project culminates in community performances where young participants share their skills with local audiences, creating moments of celebration that bring communities together.

Community-driven resilience
Every aspect of this project is led by Palestinian trainers and artists who understand their communities’ needs and cultural context. The Palestinian Circus School leads all training and performances, with our role focused on providing resources and partnership support.
Through circus arts, Palestinian youth develop resilience, teamwork, and joy – essential qualities for building stronger communities while preserving their right to play, create, and dream.
